1)  Adani Power Inks Power Purchase Agreement with Bangladesh

Adani Power (Jharkhand) has inked long-term pact with Bangladesh Power Development Board  (BPDB) to supply electricity from its upcoming 1,600 MW plant at Godda in Jharkhand.

It has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for the net capacity of 1,496 MW with BPDB for 25 years. The power supply under the PPA will be made from a new  1,600 MW (2×800 MW) ultra-supercritical, a coal based power plant to be set up by Adani Power (Jharkhand).

2) Israel Honors Natalie Portman with ‘Jewish Nobel Prize’

Natalie Portman has been awarded Israel’s 2018 Genesis Prize in recognition of her commitment to social causes and deep connection to her Jewish and Israeli roots. The $1 million award, known as “the Jewish Nobel Prize,” is granted each year to a person recognized as an inspiration to the next generation of Jews through professional achievement and commitment to Jewish values. Ms. Portman is the fifth winner and first woman to receive the prize.

First Ever Nordic-Baltic Youth Film Festival in India

The Nordic-Baltic embassies will host the first ever youth film festival of the European nations in Delhi showcasing movies from the region.
The 6-Day long festival will run in collaboration with the India Habitat Centre. The Nordic-Baltic countries Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden, or NB8 are tied together geographically and historically through trade, culture and many common value systems.

India has been re-elected as the member of the UNESCO’s executive board, its top decision-making body. The election was held at the 39th session of the General Conference of the UNESCO in Paris, France.
The General Conference consists of the representatives of the States Members of the organisation. Each country has one vote, irrespective of its size or the extent of its contribution to the budget.
